Students of MBSTU blocked the Dhaka-Tangail Road demanding quota free govt jobs
Students of Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University-MBSTU of Tangail protested by blocking the Dhaka-Tangail Bangabandhu Bridge highway demanding cancellation of quota in government jobs.
They blocked the Nagar Jalpai Bypass of the highway from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday (July 6). Around 20 kilometers of traffic congestion was created on both ends of the road.
“We’ve come together to bury the long discussed discriminatory quota system imposed on the job aspirants. Ignoring any obstacles, ordinary students will continue the movement. Our demand is only one, the circular of 2018 should be reinstated”, demanded the students.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tangail Sadar Police Station Lokman Hossain said that the students moved away from the road. Highway traffic congestion will be normal soon.
